What’s the business that you came up with during the IDEA Centre and where is it now? During my time spent at the IDEA Centre I developed many skills such as the abilities to public speak, format proper emails, make SMART goals, determine demographics, write value, mission and impact statements, and much more! Better yet, I learned how to do way more than I thought I was capable of, through working on a business.
I worked on a business called "Acne Action", where our goal was to help youth overcome their insecurities by providing an all-natural and animal cruelty free acne treatment line.
I continued developing the product for a month after the semesters program had finished. However, I am not currently developing the business at this point, as I am taking time to learn more about aromatherapy and how I can incorporate that in the future.
What are you doing and working on nowadays? Nowadays I am focusing on my School and Co-Op work, as well as my two part-time jobs. My Coop is at Bubbles & Balms where I had originally gone for a mentorship meeting during my time at the IDEA Centre. I am using the skills that I had learnt in the past semester to complete a market research project as part of my Co-op here at Bubbles & Balms!
If a high school student contacted you now, in what ways do you think you could help them? If there was a student that was ever in any need of advice or help with a part of their business, I would be more than happy to help! Some areas that I am most comfortable with are composing market research surveys, analysts, creating pitches, composing emails, and most recently I am working with Aromatherapy and product making.
What advice do you have for young entrepreneurs that are just starting out? I advise everyone to always think a month ahead, set reasonable goals, make as many connections as possible and always listen to Van Beek!!
